Drink this beer! (Then take a nap.)

Published by sean under beer, blog

A quick one before the post-ride nap….if you like IPAs, consider yourself a hop-head, or just like trying new things, then Lagunitas Hop Stoopid IPA should be on your next shopping list. It’s similar in appearance to Dogfish Head 90 minute IPA, but with slightly less body (the appearance is deceiving…it’s copper, but transparent), and more hop bite (Lagunitas is using hop extract, which is supposed to be “cleaner” when done well…I’m still undecided, but this beer will certainly be on my go-to list.) Perhaps, even, it’s a better version of Stone’s Arrogant Bastard (Cody, I think we need a second opinion here.)

Vitals:
8% ABV,
1.085 OG,
102 IBUs,
$3.29 / 22 oz. (@ Central Market. That’s cheaper than Arrogant Bastard *any day*)

Taster’s Choice

Published by Tyler under beer, blog

No real “tasting” took place instead multiple people showed up with six packs, one handsome fella even showed up with multiple six packs I liked his style. It log-pulling-014put double fisting Rob to shame with his two measly beers compared to 6 per hand. I personally brought in a previously reviewed beer: Dog Fish Head’s Indian Brown Ale. I went to the store earlier in the week to buy something new to me and just couldn’t do it. Technically it was new to me as I had never bought my own six pack of the stuff so I let myself slide on a technicality, but I was sweating bullets at the checkout that the cashier would call me on it. I flashed her a cute smile and paid quickly so I wouldn’t get the tenth degree as to why I pussed out on expanding my tastes.

I will echo my previous comments, its an easy to drink slightly sweet brown ale. I could see it going great with some salty meaty food to offset the sweetness. Its a heartier beer than your “average beer” but after three I was not feeling as if I may explode.  I highly suggest this beer, it is not a top 3 beer for me, but it certainly makes the short list of my favorite  beers for now.

The next thing I got into was a Pacifico, which if you remember from my first blog post I said my grandfather started me off on decent beers? Well he brought a six pack of Pacifco over to my place. It was the first time I was able to somewhat legitimately enjoy a beer. I cooked some crappy Mexican food and choked it down like I was a big boy, from then on I had forged a bond with Pacifico. Then I quit drinking it and came back to it years later only to realize I don’t much care for it anymore. Same was true this week I could drink them but I don’t much prefer it. If I am on a Mexican beer it is usually a Dos Equis or Corona (yes with a lime…). To me it is not as smooth as the other Mexican’s I cannot pinpoint what exactly it is I don’t enjoy about Pacifico, perhaps it was the lack of lime…

We then proceeded to pull some posts (and my bumper).  Some jackass kept screaming “cause I am a man, this makes me manly.” Fletcher and Owen “Dude why don’t we move these rocks and logs” Me “Leave ‘em its a jeep, IM A MAN”log-pulling-040

Yes ladies and gentleman, that did happen. We finished the night with a game of mildly inebriated takedown. I was running scared the entire time cause Owen and Cody were chasing me (on a Dirt Jumper, and Women’s trek comfort bike). It was like playing hide and seek when your four and every sound makes you want to piss your pants, it was that same feeling, it was all fun until I t-boned Cody and slightly taco’ed Owen’s rear wheel.
