When? Saturday, October 10th. Start time? Around 6:30ish am or about 30 minutes before sunrise. Probably starting at Walnut Creek parking lot.
It's the only date in October that really works. No TMBRA, no 24 hour race, and no other races going on that weekend that I know of.
The route will be a little different. It'll have more mileage, more climbing, and of course more suffering.
No entry fee because this isn't a race. It's just a ride with a nifty name.
A few guidelines
No support/drops on the course. Please don't store a cooler somewhere. You can stop and buy what you need at gas stations.
Don't cut the course and call yourself a finisher. Just be honest is all we're asking.
That's it really. It's a great ride with some great people. Sounds like there is a bet going on with a couple people already as well. Cool.
I'll post up the course after it's finalized but don't expect that until a bit later. It's mostly the same with a few additions and tweaks. You can look at the old EB thread to get an idea of what this ride is all about.
Start training!

I figured that since we are about 3 weeks away this topic deserves to be a sticky.
Coming soon:
-Official Route Details -Finishers T-shirt program -Post ride "fiesta" details -More Q&A
Everyone better get their training on! IMHO you've got 1 more week to really affect your fitness in a positive manner.
Later, CJB

Hi,
I met a couple of you guys at WC (I'm terrible with names) after my friend and I had finished our ride. You helped me out with my rapid-rise shifting problems on my BMC Fourstroke (Thanks!)
I'm thinking about doing this ride.
I've ridden all the trails except Thumper, well, I haven't done City Park in about 17 years so I will try to hit them this week if the weather holds.
Can you describe what constitutes a loop at each park? For example, when I do WC I start with point-six as a warm-up, then head down to the root drop, Elvis, power line, endo valley, up the ski slope, across the dam, log loops, back across the dam, down the ski slope, up power line, Mark's Art, Tangle, main creek crossing, severe consequences, windy loop and finish with the BMX trail. I'm sure everyone does it differently so will details about each trail and what constitutes a loop be handed out at the start or be posted before the ride day?
Thanks!
Antonio

The important thing to remember at Thumper is at every intersection where you have a choice, choose LEFT to make sure you complete one loop w/o repeating.
You can of course choose to repeat, on your own head be it though.

One loop is PLENTY. Especially that late in the ride! I Plan on giving this a go but I haven't heard of any other womenthat might be riding it (especially ones that are my speed. I think I'll be good through City Park but I don't know what will happen when I hit Yaupon.

Glad to here you are in on this! Make sure to sign in on the Roll Call thread. I think there were a few girls who chimed in on the mojo thread a while back. I don't think you will have any more/less of a problem with it than some of the guys. After all Bill is riding it again this year.... Don't forget that St Ed's will come prior to Yaupon! CJB

Would someone please answer these questions for me? 1. I plan to start earlier than the main group, prolly 4:30/5:00 AM. So... will the "marked routes" be already marked at that time? 2. Are you accepting monetary donations toward the "buffet"? 3. When will the "weather call" be made? That is, when will the determination be made regarding any trail cancellations or ride cancellation based on prevailing weather cconditions? Especially any partial route changes due to any trail cancellations? Sorry if these questions may have been already answered; there are soooo many posts on this subject that I did not get to read all of them Regards (and thanks), gjd

Sorry if these questions may have been already answered; there are soooo many posts on this subject that I did not get to read all of them Regards (and thanks), gjd George, Thanks for signing up. *note* Most of the EB is a collaboration between Travis and I, and he is currently out of town. But I will give you my take on your questions below. 1) There is a defined starting time of 6:30am. However, I do not see any reason you cannot start earlier because the event is essentially a time trial anyways. Please keep track of your start time and stick to the defined route(s). The earlier portions of the route will be marked the evening prior. The later portion (WC) will be marked later but should not affect your route finding. 2) We will welcome any monetary donations to the post ride festivities. We will also be (pre) selling "Finisher's T-shirts" too. 3) IMHO if we get rain Thur-Fri next week then it could very well get canceled. The final call will be make once the trail markers go out (on Fri) to mark the trail. If they find conditions too sloppy then it will get canceled (postponed?). GB, Thumper, WC all could be too wet and thus would negate an EB re-route. I think it will be all or nothing. Hope this helps. CJB
